I don’t know what I had heard about Digby in the past but I decided I absolutely had to visit there. I could have traveled south from Parrsboro to visit and then taken the ferry over to Saint John but truly…I didn’t think of it at the time. If you are a regular follower you know I love lighthouses and TADA…I found a lighthouse in Digby. It was an overcast day and the waters were a little rough. There was a light drizzle throughout the day but pouring by the time I got back to Saint John…I think one of the few times it rained during my entire road trip…not counting when I started out in Portland ME. I stopped for lunch during my drive around…yes, Digby is the Scallop Capital of the World and I had a lobster roll. I’m a rebel!! I included a picture of the Balancing Rock trail though I decided I could not do the trail. It was longer than I am capable to doing and it was sprinkling. It is supposed to be an excellent trail to take so if you do travel to Digby you should check it out.
Arriving back in Saint John and driving to the Hampton Inn on the opposite side of town from where I had been staying on the waterfront was a nightmare. It was pouring and very difficult to see the road. At one point I drove under an overpass and someone threw something down on the road…not sure what it was but it was fairly light because the strong wind picked it up and whirled it away. Scared the heck out of me but fortunately there was no other traffic on the road and it did not hit my car! Because a Hampton Inn doesn’t have a restaurant in the hotel I did have to go back out in the rain. The hotel was at the far end of a large mall and there was a restaurant a ways off also in the mall area. The food was not good so the name did not stay in my head but it was a BBQ place.
This is the end of a wonderful day and my last full day in Canada. I will be crossing into the States by way of St. Stephen and over to Ellsworth ME tomorrow.
